The opening reception was on Thursday, October 10, and I attended with my two daughters and their husbands. All of us were impressed by the high quality of the pieces in the exhibition and I felt very lucky to have a piece included. I took photos of almost all of the ceramic pieces and have included many of them below.
Last Sunday, October 6, I took three of my pots to the Hawai'i Craftsmen juried exhibition at the Honolulu Museum of Art. The guest juror was Stefano Cataloni, the Director of Art, Craft and Design at the Bellevue Museum of Arts in Bellevue, Washington (just outside of Seattle). Stefano had already been to three other islands (Maui, Kaui, and the big island of Hawai'i) and had chosen work from all three before coming to Oahu. That evening Stefano gave a great lecture about a biennial exhibition he helped to organize at the Bellevue Museum of Arts in 2010 that focused on clay. After the lecture, we moved out to the foyer where people were waiting at tables to tell us if our pieces had made the show or would have to be removed from the premises immediately. Well, I was happy to find out that one of my pieces got in! The opening reception was on Thursday, October 10, and I attended with my two daughters and their husbands.
